WR Rankings

You can view the no comments version here.

With WRs, there are so many of them that it can get very difficult to distinguish the players from one another at a certain point. So after ranking my top 10, I have broken them into groups of 5, with the 5 in that group not in any particular ranking order.

1. Steve Smith (As long as Delhomme is the QB and Smith is healthy, not the surest bets, Steve Smith can score double what any other WR will on any given week. I'm not sure there has ever been an offence that was so blatantly, run the #1 WR deep every play and chuck it to him, in style. This is partially why Carolina does not have a good offense, and why Steve Smith is easily the #1 overall WR)
2. T. Owens (Age is starting to become a concern here, but even if he is losing a step, he'll still catch the TDs, if for no other reason than you have to throw it to him in the endzone in an attempt to keep him from mouthing off after the game.)
3. M. Harrison (For the last few years I have been ranking him below Re. Wayne assuming that it was finally the year Harrison gave up his post as the #1 WR in Indy. I'm not making that mistake this year.)
4. Re. Wayne (Although Wayne is nipping at his heels.)
5. C. Johnson (Another great 1, 2 combo in Johnson and "Who's your momma?". However, the Indy offense is more prolific and has more room for two top 5 WRs)
6. T. Holt (This guy is the Tom Brady of WRs the last couple of years.)
7. M. Colston (Two things make me nervous about this guy. 1. Why was he picked in the 7th round? I mean there had to be something that didn't show up in his play last year right? 2. Mi. Clayton, as in, will Colston be the next Mi. Clayton, having a great rookie year and then falling back to reality his sophomore year.)
8. L. Fitzgerald (He would probably be top 5 if it weren't for A. Boldin)
9. D. Jackson (His stock will plummet if parted from Hasselbeck. As it is, I will probably drop him as the offseason progresses anyway, if signs point to D. Branch playing a bigger role).
10. D. Driver (Every year the #1 GB WR gets overlooked. Not in my rankings though.)
11-15. P. Burress, Ro. Williams, A. Johnson, Re. Brown, T.J. Houshmanzadeh. Other than T.J. this group consists of younger clear #1 WRs with good talent.
16-20. J. Walker, L. Evans, A. Boldin, M. Furrey, B. Edwards...M. Furrey in the top 20? Yeah, ummm...that feels weird to me too, but he had 98 catches last year in his first year playing WR.
21-25. J. Cotchery, H. Ward, L. Coles, M. Clayton, V. Jackson....This group begins the passing of the guard. The older players from here on out, are falling from former fantasy relevancy, and the younger guys are taking over for them. Ma. Clayton, Cotchery, B. Berrian and S. Holmes will gradually take over for guys like D. Mason, L. Coles, M. Muhammad and H. Ward.
26-30. Sa. Holmes, Sa. Moss, T. Glenn, M. Muhammad, B. Berrian....the transition continues.
31-35. D. Stallworth, C. Chambers, D. Branch, J. Horn, M. Booker....Stallworth should probably be higher, but after the Patriots signed Ke. Washington to add to Stallworth and Welker, along with some carryovers, I'm just kind of befuddled what the plan is at WR. D. Branch will fly up the list is D. Jackson were to be moved. J. Horn and M. Booker begin the group of also-rans who no longer have fantasy relevance.
36-40. I. Bruce, E. Kennison, D. Mason, G. Jennings, J. Galloway....

Nothing much to argue with here. My rankings wound not deviate much more than a few spots with guys, and most are right about where I would have them.
